TOBA TEK SINGH (Hindi)

A grand musical about lunatics and politics

By Saadat Hasan Manto, adapted for the stage by Sujit Saraf, in Hindi with supertitles in English

It is 1948. The governments of India and Pakistan decide that, as has happened with the rest of their population, lunatics in their mental asylums must be exchanged. Muslim lunatics in India are to be sent to Pakistan, while Hindu and Sikh lunatics in Pakistan will be sent to India. In an asylum in Lahore, a Sikh lunatic whom everyone calls Toba Tek Singh refuses to go. Based on Saadat Hasan Manto’s celebrated short story, Toba Tek Singh is a grand musical – performed with live music and dance, fascinating sets and costumes – that observes the madness of Partition through the eyes of a madman, and lays bare its agony through humor, tragedy, and the silly antics of lunatics.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question 6: What is the difference between VVIP, VIP and GEN categories?
Answer: ***VVIP season pass buyers receive a Natak T-shirt and the best seat in the house *** Though all seats are good seats in Cubbereley Theater, the seating location as seen in this image is the prime difference. Rows #2 & #3 are assigned for VVIP seating, Rows #1, 4,5,6 are assigned for VIP seating and the rest are General seating in the Cubberley Theater, Palo Alto. In case we perform at other theaters in the Bay Area in 2017, there will be equivalent seating locations assigned.
